The moment the weather started to slightly cool down for Fall, I got the urge to moody-up our bed.  As most of you know, our bedroom has been a work in progress for a while as we enjoy the intentionality behind slow decorating.  An antique addition here and there, custom drapery, searching endlessly for the perfect rugs, etc - it's all such a process.  We're waiting on a rug + end-of-bed bench we have ordered and still need to find nightstands.  The other side, by our fireplace, is so close to coming together, too.  We need to have our new {antique} chair recovered and I desperately need to figure out my desk situation (as I write from the couch), but we're closer than we've ever been!  Progress feels good.

The bedding, however, was a no-brainer.  I knew exactly what I wanted, I just had to find it - moody, dark colors for Fall and a lot of layers.  Our vintage saddle that hangs over the bed (one of my favorite purchases to date) is a bit masculine, which I love, so I knew I wanted to soften the over all space with two things: cozy textures and soft prints.  Initially, I had a Ralph Lauren plaid fabric picked out for euro shams, but it was going to be really time consuming (as well as costly), so I decided to incorporate it into our space in another way (soon!).  The gingham, paired with the moody florals, is the perfect combination.  Not too feminine, but soft.  John and I both love + prefer a quilt over a duvet any day and this one from Parachute Home was perfect.  It just feels cozier to us.  The color, the weight, the fabric (linen, what else?) - all a match made in heaven.  The other pillows are one of my favorite French brands, Maison de Vacaces and we have them scattered all throughout our home.  They're a bit of an investment, but if you start slow with a couple at a time and build, they're so interchangeable!  This floral one just speaks to me - it's so stunning.

I often say that I want our home to give me all the feels.  From the floor to the ceiling and every wall in-between, I want to be in love it.  The bedroom, however, is that x a million.  The space you open your eyes to each morning and fall asleep staring at each night should inspire you like no other.  Colors, patterns, art, vintage pieces - all of it just does something for your soul when it's beautifully curated.  Welcoming in another season here at the cottage, our favorite place on earth.

Thanks so much for stopping by, X.
